About Us

The Family Pet Hospital located in Ashland Massachusetts, has been providing state of the art veterinary medical and surgical services as well as integrative services in a friendly, family oriented environment since it was founded in February, 1998. Owner and founder Dr.Cristina Valas was able to realize her dream of being her own town’s small animal veterinarian, caring for the pets in her community as if they were her own.

Part of the vision was to create a practice where pets are honored for the important role they play within the family and where she and her staff could contribute to the joy of pet ownership. Clients enjoy the family-oriented atmosphere, where staff take the time to play with the patients as well as get to know their owners personally.

We strive to educate our clients on how to best care for their pets, encouraging their cooperation in their pets health care. Although the practice has grown considerably, we are proud to provide exceptional medical and surgical services in that very same compassionate, family-oriented atmosphere

Certified by The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA)

Only 17% of all small animal practices in the United States and Canada achieve accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association.  AAHA accreditation recognizes our hospital’s commitment to meeting the highest quality standards of care for you and your pets.

Certified Cat-Friendly Hospital

On behalf of the American Association for Feline Practitioners, The Family Pet Hospital is certified as a Cat Friendly Practice. The Family Pet Hospital has seeked out to meet these high set of standards, proving that we have taken specific extra steps to assure they understand a cat’s unique set of needs, have implemented feline-friendly standards, and have made changes to decrease stress and provide a calming environment such as feline-only waiting rooms.

This also means that staff has been properly trained in feline-friendly handling and understands cat behavior in order to increase the quality of care for your furry feline! We feel that implementing these ideas will help clients ensure a longer, better quality life for our feline patients.

We want the best care and positive experience for our clients and patients, and we feel that becoming a Cat Friendly Practice was an important step towards that goal.
